Shafali Verma: India’s Young Cricket Sensation 🇮🇳🔥

Rohtak-born batting prodigy Shafali Verma, aged 21, has rapidly become one of the most explosive players in Indian women’s cricket. Known for her aggressive stroke play and fearless approach at the crease, Shafali is a right-handed opening batter and also bowls right-arm off-br

eak. She dons jersey number 17 for the Indian Women’s Cricket Team and plays domestically for Delhi Capitals (WPL), Sydney Sixers (WBBL), and Birmingham Phoenix (The Hundred).

Shafali made her T20I debut at just 15 years old against South Africa on 24 September 2019, becoming the youngest Indian cricketer (male or female) to play a T20 International. She later debuted in ODIs and Test cricket in 2021 against England, scoring a half-century in her very first Test match. A key member of India’s U-19 Women’s team that won the ICC U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup 2023, she has drawn comparisons to Virender Sehwag for her fearless batting style.

Off the field, Shafali comes from a supportive sporting family in Haryana. Her father, Sanjeev Verma, is a jeweller and cricket coach, while her mother, Praveen Verma, and brother, Sahil Verma, form the rest of her family.

With a growing list of achievements in international and domestic cricket, Shafali Verma continues to inspire young athletes across India with her dynamism and passion for the game.
